Camp4 - Climbing News Archive

If you are a regular visitor, you have probably noticed our newest site redesign and layout change, and we hope you like it. We have also put in many hours trying to bring you better and more interesting content for your surfing enjoyment. We'd love to do more, but we can't do it alone...sniff, sniff. Don't you feel sorry for us?

So, here's what we are asking from you...

"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success."

OK, so that was a blatant rip-off from Ernest Shackleton's ad looking for people to join his sailing expedition to Antarctica. It worked for him because more than 5,000 people answered his ad. So, we thought we would try it. The only difference is that our journey is not as hazardous as Shackleton's expedition.

So we should modify our ad to read more like...

"Men and women wanted as contributors for an up-and-coming climbing e-zine. No wages. Benefits include Camp4 email address, occasional free gear, books and manufacturer pro-deals. One to two hour per week commitment. Safe return probable. Honor and recognition in case of success."

Basically, we are looking for four or five enthusiastic climbers to help us maintain the Camp4 web site and bring in new content. We are looking for correspondents interested in different aspects of climbing (bouldering, ice, mountain, big wall or rock). Your job would include scouring the Internet for news stories and helping with general Camp4 promotion. In return you would get you own personal Camp4 email address and become eligible for occasional gear freebies and pro-deals from Camp4 sponsoring companies.

If you are interested, send and email to and tell us about your climbing experience and interests. Previous writing experience desired but not a requirement for consideration. However, if you have any writing or editing experience, please attach a writing sample.

Climb on.
