Camp4 - Climbing News Archive

The OSMP Open House is this Wednesday, June 23rd at The City of Boulder Municipal Building from 4-7pm with OSBT hearing public input beginning at 7:00pm.

4 - 7 PM Open House
6 PM Open Space Board of Trustees meeting begins.
7 PM OSBT takes public comments.

This is a critical time to address the powers that be regarding climbing access, and other recreational activities in our Open Space. Cadillac Crag, Mickey Mouse, Boulder Falls, The Flatirons, Skunk Canyon, Terrain Boulder, and Satellite Boulders are just some of the areas to see increased restrictions.

This is an extremely important opportunity to express your opinion to the Open Space Board of Trustees regarding the Visitor Master Plan Draft before this plan gets approved. This document will determine the recreational opportunities on OSMP for the next ten years and beyond. It will be voted on by the OS Board very soon, and is scheduled to be presented to City Council in the Fall.

Now is the time to show up and be counted, and to speak up and be heard. Please encourage others to get the word out, to attend this public meeting, and to express their opinion.

This is the second of two public input processes. The first public process, that already concluded, was a closed door discussion with representatives from different stakeholder groups (Sierra Club, BCNA, FIDOS, BOA, BATCO, FCC,...). The Flatirons Climbing Council represented climbers’ interests. The recommendation from this group will be presented at the Open House. This was an extremely productive session, however, work still remain to be done.

Please attend this meeting and visit for more info on the plan.
