Boys ripping it up in Patagonia

Camp4 - Climbing News Archive

Looks like a speed climbers convention is taking place this winter down in Patagonia.

"Steve Schneider climbed the Monzino Route on the North Tower of Paine in 71 minutes - from the saddle. (previous record time was 90 minutes, set by Hans Florine)

Dean Potter climbed the 2,000 foot Super Couloir (West Face) solo on the Fitz Roy in 6 1/2 hours. ( I think the previous record was longer than a day, not sure what the route is about - ice, rock, or what...)

The Hubers sent the Compressor Route on Cerre Torre all free.

Sean "Stanley" Leary from Yosemite sent the Bonnington Route on the Middle Tower of Paine all free. Possibly his partner, Zak, did as well.

Steve Schneider made a bid to solo all three Towers of Paine but got weathered off on the middle. He plans to go for it again."

Editors Note-
No word yet from our friends Jonathan Copp and Dylan Taylor, but it looks like the weather has been holding out enough for some good climbing. But it wouldn't really matter because these guys are so fast, all they need is a window of a few hours of good weather. :-)

More details to come...
