Camp4 - Climbing News Archive

Women's final was incredible hard! But nevertheless the girls showed us good moves, and Ines? She nearly climbed to the TOP and won this competition!

And men? ...
The most crazy final ever in IWC history... Matveev, Tomilov and Gadd kick out of the boundary at the same place - a place without any difficulty. The route just turned left, but these guys went straight forward. For luck they all are great sportsmen .

Ines Papert of Germany took first place in women's difficulty women, while second place was Petra Müller of Switzerland, and third place was Kirsten Buchmann also from Germany.

The men's difficulty was won by Dimitri Bytchkov of Russia. Second place and the new leader in men's Worldcup ranking was Harry Berger from Austria, and third place was Frenchman Stephane Husson.

At the awards ceremony, Michael Boos, President of ICCIC/CEGC held a little speech, where he honoured the work of all people, who made the competition in Saas-Fee again possible!

If you want to see what they mean by "crazy finals", take a look at the pictures and video. The pictures and video clips can be found at http://www.ice-time.com/iwc2002-saas-fee.htm. The pics are great, wish we could say the same for the video, but what the hell, check them out anyway...it's pretty wild.
